In 2009 Rachel graduated from Radford University with a degree in Foods and Nutrition. In junior year Rachel was given information about an internship to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Soon after graduating she started her 500 hour clinical internship in DC + Northern Virginia. In 2011 Rachel became certified, she has experience in both hospital and private practice settings.
In 2017 she started Riverside Lactation and offers in-home consultations in Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland. Rachel absolutely loves continuing to support her community whether they are breastfeeding, chest feeding or bottle feeding.
Her passion for helping families who struggle with breastfeeding/chest feeding challenges came from both her children being tongue tied. Through this emotional and physically challenging journey Rachel has first hand knowledge in the effort it takes to become successful at breastfeeding. Rachel's mission is to help her clients be heard, with judgement free support.
Rachel lives in Purcellville, VA with her husband, 2 boys, and their dog Sydney.
Outside of work Rachel enjoys studying to become an herbalist, gardening, and homeschooling.
Rachel is passionate about supporting survivors of sexual assault + intimate partner violence. In her spare time she is a volunteer at Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter/Loudoun Citizens for Social Justice. Through lack of training, Rachel has been empowered to speak on this topic + create training for not only IBCLC’s in private practice but all healthcare providers in all settings.
Areas of expertise: Tongue tie/oral dysfunction, PCOS, low milk supply, twins, preemies and perinatal mood disorders.
